Piret Jaaks (1980) is an internationally recognised Estonian prose, drama and children's author.
Piret's debut novel "Daughters of Heaven" (2023) won third place in the Estonian novel competition and initiated a wide response in society and became a bestseller. It is about how women missionaries saving children during World War I, which resonates strongly with what is happening in the world today.
Her children's book "Mommy's Dragon" (2019) has received the most international recognition, which has received several awards in Estonia as well as being included in the prestigious international catalog of children's literature, The White Ravens. It was also awarded the "Golden Pear" award for children's literature in Slovenia (2020). "Mommy's Dragon" has been published in Spain and South America in addition to Estonia, Slovenia and Croatia.
Piret is also a recognised drama writer. Her plays have been performed in several European countries, like Germany, Finland, Latvia, Romania etc.
